How does it differ from other hoof and coat supplements such as biotin?

Most supplements to improve hoof and coat quality are based on biotin. HELTIE horse® Silicon is the only supplement based on highly absorbable silicon. Silicon is the building material for connective tissue and for hooves, coat, muscles, tendons and cartilage. Its action is completely different from that of biotin, which acts on the metabolism. Opinions differ about the effectiveness of biotin. It seems that this vitamin only improves when there is a deficiency, and that is by no means always the case. More biotin therefore does not always lead to a better coat or hooves. Silicon is essential for connective tissue, bones and joints and only the hydrolysed form, such as in HELTIE horse® Silicon, is easily absorbed by horses.
